The Center for Health Equity & Wellbeing is steadfast in its mission to foster health equity across New Jersey. As the state’s first public health institute (PHI), we’re uniquely positioned to enhance health improvement efforts, boost multisector collaboration, and leverage resources to promote health and wellbeing for all.
Our vision is a New Jersey where people and their communities have a fair and just opportunity to experience health and quality of life to their full potential.
Future Plans
Our work is deeply rooted in collaboration and community-driven partnerships. At this time, we’re working closely with the New Jersey Department of Health, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the National Network of Public Health Institutes to develop the priorities and structure for a public health institute. We’ve begun designing the framework to help support the future leadership for the PHI and will also be reaching out to local communities for their feedback on how they would like to have the PHI support their needs.
Our Commitment to Equity
Health equity is at the heart of everything we do. We’re proud to be the first PHI in the country founded on this principle. From assessing priorities to hiring resources, we strive to reduce disparities and ensure a just health system for all.
As such, a key part of our work involves listening to and learning from local and statewide public health leaders. We’re also committed to including the voices of environmental justice representatives, social justice leaders, and others who are on the front lines of reducing health disparities.
By understanding their perspectives and integrating their insights into our programming, we aim to ensure that our future initiatives are truly responsive to the needs of the communities we serve.
